Elderly woman crashes car into stairs of pedestrian bridge after spotting cockroach on dashboard while driving

A woman was rushed to a hospital and her car was damaged after spotting a cockroach on her dashboard while driving, according to police in Singapore.

Jurong East area police said that they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash after pedestrians saw the 61-year-old woman’s car crash into the staircase of an overpass.

Police launched an investigation but no charges have been filed.

The incident unfolded on Friday, at around 7:30 a.m.

The woman, who was not identified, drove her red Mazda on Science Centre Road when she spotted a cockroach crawling on the dashboard.

The woman panicked and lost control of her vehicle.

The car then slammed into the staircase of the pedestrian overpass.

Police officers who arrived at the scene said that the woman was conscious and suffered minor injuries.

She was taken to the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The woman’s Mazda was badly damaged.
