A couple wanted their daughter to marry a good man who is well-off and would be able to take care of her.

However, the family of India did not have money for a dowry so they came up with a plan to kidnap a working man and force him to marry their daughter at gunpoint.

The man, Vinod Kumar, who is a junior engineer for Bokaro Steel Plant, said that he went to his friend’s wedding in the Nalanda district near Patna when a man came up to speak to him.

After talking for a bit, the man asked him to come outside. Once outside, he was kidnapped by a group of men.

He was taken to an area where the bride and her family had gathered and were ready for the wedding ceremony.

Videos of the incident show a group of men forcefully removing Kumar’s clothes while he resisted and dressing him in traditional wedding attire.

Kumar cried throughout the wedding ceremony. A woman was seen wiping his tears as he was being married forcefully.

At one point, a family member was heard telling the groom: “Why are you crying loudly? We are only performing your wedding, not hanging you, shut up.”

After the wedding, when the bride’s family members finally left, Kumar escaped and filed a complaint with the police.

Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said that they have opened an investigation into the forced marriage and charges will be filed against those involved.
