A good Samaritan and his partner were attacked while trying to help a couple whose car fell into a ditch, according to police in Ohio.

Weathersfield police said that they have arrested 24-year-old Daniel Thomas Day of Hubbard after being accused of stabbing a man and punching his girlfriend.

Day was charged with one count of felonious assault.

He was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and his bail has been set at $50,000.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Monday, at around 2:00 a.m.

The good Samaritan and his partner were driving down Warren Austintown Road when they noticed a car in a ditch and a couple standing nearby.

The man and his partner stopped at the side of the road and tried to help the stranded motorist and his partner.

However, at some point, an argument broke out.

Day pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the chest.

The good Samaritan’s partner was punched in the face.

The stabbed victim was able to call an ambulance and he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.

Day and his partner fled the scene before police arrived.
