A 12-year-old girl in Tennessee was arrested for fatally shooting her friend.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said on Facebook that the 12-year-old girl is facing charges of criminal homicide in the Juvenile Court for the fatal shooting, which occurred at the Falcon View Apts on E. Palestine Avenue.

According to police, the 12-year-old girl snuck out of her grandmother’s apartment during the night along with her 16-year-old friend, Brentrice Wilson, and several other girls.

The girls went to a nearby parking lot and started pulling handles of car doors. They found an unlocked vehicle and stole the property that was inside, including a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

The girls then returned to the grandmother’s home, where they played with the gun.

The 12-year-old girl was pointing the gun at others when it fired, killing Wilson. Police were called to the home at around 3:25 a.m. on a report of a shooting.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene and the 12-year-old girl was arrested.
