Man fires shots at church because he mistook oddly-shaped building for alien spaceship

A man opened fire at a church because he believed that a spacecraft had landed and wanted to save everyone in the city from being attacked, according to police in Michigan.

Troy police said that they have arrested that 40-year-old man, who was not identified, for shooting at the church and putting people’s lives at risk.

The suspect is facing charges of illegal discharge of a firearm within in a city and illegal possession of a firearm.

Police said that the suspect may be mentally ill.

The District Attorney’s Office will decide whether to bring the case to trial.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded at the Zion Church on Livernois, at around 5:00 a.m., on Wednesday.

The man fired several shots at the church.

A window shattered and bullets got lodged in the wall inside the church.

Several minutes later, the man called the police to report that an alien spaceship has landed.

Police managed to trace the call and arrested the man at his home.

Pastor Jared Wizner said that luckily, the shooting occurred just an hour before people were scheduled to arrive at the church for morning services.

No injuries were reported.

The pastor is praying for the suspect.
