Man posed as gay escort and killed gay couple after responding to their casual encounter Craigslist adBy Mason White 12:34 PM January 21, 2018
A killer of Florida who showed no remorse even while he was being sentenced to death showed the middle finger to the victims’ family members who were in the courtroom seeking justice for their loved ones.
Wilton Manors police said that they have arrested 32-year-old Peter Avsenew after being accused of murdering Kevin Mark Powell, 47, and Stephen Adams, 52.
Avsenew has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
In court, a jury has found him guilty of first-degree murder.
The jury recommended the death penalty.
Avsenew then showed his middle finger to members of the victims’ family who had gathered in court for the sentencing hearing.
He also told the jury that he did not regret anything he had done in his life.
The judge told Avsenew that his decision to lash out at the jury was unwise.
According to the police investigation, Powell and Adams were a gay couple who lived together.
The two victims posted an ad on Craigslist, seeking a man who was willing to have sex with them.
Avsenew used Craigslist to get invited to the gay couple’s home.
Once inside, he shot them both in the face.
He then stole their valuables and fled the scene.
He went to hide in his mother’s home but she eventually called the police to turn him in because she was afraid of her son.
Avsenew claimed that he worked as an escort and the gay couple was already dead when he arrived at their home.
Police found no evidence to suggest that Avsenew was a gay escort.
