Man set up meeting with teen on social media before pretending to be police officer and raping her

A woman called the police to report that she had been raped by a man who claimed to be a police officer.

Police in Thousand Oaks, California, met with the victim and later tracked down the suspect who was arrested.

According to police, 21-year-old Guadalupe Menjivar of Canoga Park was in contact with the 18-year-old victim through social media.

The teen agreed to meet with Menjivar. The 18-year-old woman told deputies that when she arrived at the location, Menjivar identified himself as a police officer.

Menjivar then drove her to a parking lot, where he sexually assaulted her, according to authorities.

Menjivar was tracked down and arrested. He faces charges of kidnapping and sexual assault under color of authority by impersonating a police officer.

Bail for Menjivar was set at $500,000.
