A man spoke out about the horror of watching his friend die after they both jumped out of a moving train.
The two from Scotland were on a two-week vacation in India.
Fabian Galama, 53, a lecturer at the Edinburgh Napier University, and his friend, Erik Suidman, 51, were on the last leg of their tour of the country.
The tourists had bought tickets to Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
Galama said that as the train arrived, they asked 3 people if this was the train to Agra and all three said “yes.”
The two boarded the train, and went looking for their seats but found that they were occupied.
After a short discussion with the passengers who were in “their seats,” the tourists realized that they were on the wrong train.
The two accidentally had boarded an Express to New Delhi rather than another train. They decided to jump off the train as it left the platform in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.
Galama said that he jumped first. He suffered minor injuries. However, by the time his friend jumped, the train had picked up speed. Suidman lost his balance and suffered a fatal head injury.
Suidman was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.
