Two people who killed a man were caught after foolishly speeding down a busy highway with the dead body in the front seat of a stolen car, according to police in California.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 24-year-old Ben Barness and 39-year-old Manpreet Sidhu, both of Los Angeles, as they were sleeping on Highway 65.
The two suspects are facing charges of murder, conspiracy, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
They were booked into jail, pending bail hearings.
According to the police investigation, Barness and Sidhu killed a man, who was not identified, and moved his body into the stolen vehicle.
On Tuesday, at around 7:00 a.m., a California Highway Patrol officer noticed a car speeding on Highway 65 and decided to conduct a traffic stop.
When the car pulled over, the officer noticed an injured man in the front passenger seat.
The officer later realized that the man was deceased.
The driver and a passenger in the back seat of the car were arrested at the scene after the police determined that they were responsible for the victim’s death.
