A family was happy to see justice for their young son as his rapist was jailed.

The man of England who had been sentenced to 6 and half years in jail was found dead in his prison cell at the HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire a few weeks after being sentenced.

22-year-old Daniel Davey was arrested after the young boy told his mother that he had to tell her about “something dirty” that happened to him.

The boy told his mother how Davey, who was his babysitter, had performed sex acts on him.

Police discovered that the boy had been sexually abused by Davey for 18 months between the age of 5 and 6 years old.

During the trial, prosecutor Charles Thomas said the boy informed officers that he was sexually abused on the day he reported the incident. DNA on the youngster’s underwear was recovered and it matched to Davey.

The Swindon Crown Court also heard that on one occasion, Davey’s girlfriend found an image on his computer, showing a man sexually abusing a child who was about 13 years old.

When she confronted him, Davey told her that someone sent him the photo as a joke. He then deleted the photo.

In court, Davey denied three counts of sexual assault of a child but was found guilty of two counts.

In addition to the jail sentence, Davey was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Police did not yet release the cause of death. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice said the Prison Service Ombudsman is investigating the death.
