Pennsylvania police chief caught trying to have sex with 14-year-old girlBy Emily Lewis 12:03 PM January 7, 2018
A married police chief admitted that his life was totally over after being caught trying to meet a young girl for sex, according to police in Pennsylvania.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced charges against 40-year-old Michael W. Diebold, who was the Leechburg Chief of Police in Armstrong County.
Diebold was charged with unlawful contact with a minor and criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
Diebold of Forks Church Road was arrested for soliciting sex from an undercover agent from the Attorney General’s Office, who posed as a 14-year-old girl online.
“This case is particularly heinous because the perpetrator is a public official, who swore to serve and protect the community,” Shapiro said.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy for the sexual abuse of children and my office will prosecute any offender to the fullest extent of the law, no matter who they are,” Shapiro added.
The undercover agent told Diebold he was a 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
The undercover agent reached out to Diebold after he posted an ad, looking to have sex with a woman of any age, race, or status.
Diebold sent inappropriate pictures to the undercover agent and solicited the girl for unlawful sexual contact.
He then made plans to meet the undercover agent.
Upon arriving at the designated meeting location in Westmoreland County, Diebold was taken into custody without incident by agents with the Child Predator Section.
While being taken into custody, Diebold allegedly admitted that he knew having sex with a 14-year-old girl was illegal and wrong.
He also said: “my life is totally over.”
Diebold was booked into the Westmoreland County Prison and his bail has been set at $500,000.
