Police chase ends with couple getting out of stolen truck and kissing in middle of streetBy Emily Lewis 7:05 AM January 4, 2018
A police chase took a bizarre turn when the suspects exited the vehicle and began kissing.
The police chase occurred in Los Angeles, California, when police spotted a U-Haul truck that was reported stolen.
Bell Gardens police attempted to pull the vehicle over at 10:30 a.m. but the female driver refused to stop. Instead, she led police on a chase for 2 hours.
At some point during the chase, Trisha Martinez and her boyfriend, Harold Escobar-Chavez, seemed to be slowing down but they did not stop for police.
Video showed their friend waiting at the side of the road and handing them a package.
That friend was arrested but the two suspects drove off.
Police placed spike strips on the road, which busted the tire on the front passenger side, but that did not get them to stop.
The couple crashed into a pickup truck when they went through a red light at an intersection but that did not stop them either.
At about 12:30 p.m., Martinez stopped the car in the middle of the road.
The couple consumed alcohol and did drugs while officers were waiting for them with their guns drawn.
After 30 minutes, Martinez came out of the truck with her hands behind her head and Escobar-Chavez followed her.
Escobar-Chavez grabbed his girlfriend in a tight bear hug and kissed her until police shot them with a Taser.
The couple was taken to a hospital to be treated. They will be charged once they are released.
