A police officer in Florida was removed from a nightclub and handed over to his colleagues.
The Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of Miami police officer Adrian Santos on Tuesday.
The charges stem from an incident that took place at the E11even, which is open 24 hours a day.
Officer Adrian Santos, who had worked for the Miami Police Department for more than two years, was off-duty when he was arrested.
According to the police, Santos was seen at the club with a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance that was later positively identified as cocaine.
He was seen on surveillance video snorting the powder, according to Miami Police Chief Rodolfo Llanes.
When the security director was notified about the officer’s drug use, he escorted Santos out of the club and he was handed over to his colleagues of the Miami police who were working at the bar.
Santos was charged with possession of cocaine.
Llanes said Santos has been relieved of his duty pending termination. However, he added that Santos is in the process of appealing his termination.
