A mother said that she received a flyer from police, letting parents know that a sex offender moved into their neighborhood.

Instead of keeping the man away from her family, the mother said she decided that he deserves a second chance.

“You got to give everybody the benefit of the doubt,” the mother said.

The mother from Phoenix, Arizona, who did not want to be identified, said that she became friends with the sex offender, 47-year-old Michael Berry, and she trusted him.

Her trust backfired when Berry began grooming her 2 teenage sons. He bought them gifts and showed the teens adult videos.

The mother began suspecting that something was not right when Berry bought her son a cell phone but lied and denied it.

The mother questioned her sons and they denied being sexually assaulted by Berry. She then learned that her 15-year-old son admitted to a friend that Berry gave him gifts in exchange for sexual favors.

Police were called and Berry was arrested. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
