Reporter tests school district by attempting to kidnap child from school busBy Alexis Bell 7:58 AM January 28, 2018
A reporter is getting mixed reactions over his actions when he tried to kidnap a girl as she stepped off her school bus outside her home.
Floyd Thomas “Tom” Lemons III of Florida posted the video of his actions to YouTube with the caption: “Attempted ‘Abduction’ Fails, Bus Driver Passes the Test.”
Lemons explained that a concerned mother, Kali Rosario, who has a daughter at the Deltona Elementary School in Spring Hill, was concerned for the safety of her 8-year-old child, Scarlet, who rides the bus to and from school every day.
The reporter said that the school has policies regarding who can take the child from the bus stop. In order to determine if those procedures are being followed, Lemons staged a kidnapping.
He tried to take Scarlet as she exited the bus at around 3:30 p.m.
Her driver asked her to return to the bus and would not let her go with Lemons because he was not on the list of people who can pick her up.
Lemons said that Rosario was very pleased with the results. However, others parents, the school district, and law enforcement officials, are questioning his actions.
District spokeswoman Karen Jordan said: “there was no incident that warranted this type of challenge.”
