A special education teacher betrayed the trust of parents and children by having a sexual relationship with a boy, according to police in Illinois.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department said that they have arrested 41-year-old Sarah L. Myers after being accused of having sex with the student at least three times in different locations.
In court, Myers pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault.
She was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
Myers had faced up to 15 years in prison.
According to the police investigation, Myers is a mother of 5 children.
She was a special education teacher who also taught math.
The court was told that Myers began having a relationship with the boy and they eventually had sex.
The boy told investigators that he and Myers had sex on three occasions at different locations.
The boy went to police after ending the relationship.
