A woman who tried to escape from an aggressive cat got run over by her own car, according to police in Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that deputies responded to the scene on Friday afternoon after the woman called the police to say that her car ran her over.
The incident unfolded on Magnolia Avenue in West Cocoa.
The woman, who was not identified, told the police that she got into her car that was parked on the front lawn of her home.
While reversing, a cat jumped into the vehicle and bit her.
The woman got startled and jumped out of her vehicle.
The woman forgot to put the car’s gear in park.
As a result, the vehicle kept reversing and ran over the woman.
The car then crashed into another parked vehicle.
The woman managed to call 911 while lying on the ground.
She suffered critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
People at the scene told police that a neighbor owned several cats.
The police checked on the cats and none of them appeared to be aggressive.
