Two girls are traumatized after an elderly man sexually assaulted them on a public bus as they were traveling to school, according to police in New York.
The New York Police Department said that they arrested the suspect for grabbing the behinds of the two 12-year-old twin girls over a period of three months.
The incidents unfolded on the B1 MTA bus, which travels up and down 86 Street.
Over a period of three months, every time the twin girls boarded the bus, the suspect approached them and grabbed their behinds.
After suffering abuse for three months, the girls told their parents.
The girls’ father boarded the bus and took a picture of the suspect.
He then called the police and handed the picture over to the officers.
The girls’ mother spoke out about the abuse and urged anyone with information about the suspect to come forward.
She said that her daughters are unable to sleep at night and are afraid to go on the public bus to school.
They also feel guilty and ashamed because they think they are at fault for what happened.
The New York Police Department said that they arrested the suspect, Hajem Alchtiwi, 59, who allegedly sexually abused multiple children riding on public transportation to and from school.
Hajem Alchtiwi has been charged with sexual abuse, acting in a manner that is injurious to a child, and forcible touching.
