An illegal alien from El Salvador tried to kill a U.S. citizen just because he told him to stop urinating in the street, according to police in Maryland.
Montgomery County police said that they have arrested 46-year-old Salvador Gomez-Lopez after being accused of using a box cutter to stab the victim.
Gomez-Lopez was charged with assault and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure.
He faces up to 38 years in prison if convicted.
His bail was set at $5,000.
If Gomez-Lopez makes bail, he will be taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to the police investigation, Gomez-Lopez came to the United States from El Salvador illegally.
He worked for a relative and is the father of two children.
One night, at around 11:00 p.m., Gomez-Lopez was at the Wheaton Metro bus station on Georgia Avenue.
Gomez-Lopez unzipped his pants and urinated in public in front of the other passengers who were waiting for the public bus.
The victim approached Gomez-Lopez and urged him to stop urinating in public.
He suggested that Gomez-Lopez use a restroom to relieve himself.
Gomez-Lopez did not like what he was told.
He pulled out a box cutter and began slashing the victim.
The victim managed to wrestle away the box cutter but he suffered life-changing injuries.
Witnesses at the scene detained Gomez-Lopez until police arrived.
