A man who wanted surprise his girlfriend with a bunch of roses was unable to give them to her as he was hauled off to jail.
Police in North Dakota arrested 33-year-old Terrence Lee Keplin of Fargo after he was caught hiding in a ceiling of a hair salon.
According to police, Officer Jessica Schindeldecker arrived at Hornbacher’s Grocery along 13th Avenue South at around 1:00 p.m. on a report of shoplifting.
The grocery store employees reported that Keplin stole a bunch of roses and ran out from the store.
Schindeldecker followed Keplin who kept running towards the shopping mall. There, he barricaded himself in a storage closet that belonged to MasterCuts barbershop.
While in the storage room, Keplin stole an undisclosed amount of cash from an employee’s wallet and managed to hide inside the ceiling.
Schindeldecker said that the suspect eventually surrendered when he realized he could not evade the authorities.
Keplin was taken into custody on charges of criminal mischief, theft, refusing to halt, and a probation violation.
