Parents were shocked to learn that a nursery school teacher hurt his young students by collecting child porn and sexually assaulting at least one boy, according to police in the United Kingdom.

Now, the Coventry teacher has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison after being found guilty at the Leamington Crown Court of sexually assaulting a child and possession of indecent images of children.

Police investigating the case discovered the sickening act 42-year-old James Riley had committed when the 3-year-old boy disclosed to his parents what had happened to him at the nursery.

The parents called the police and the little boy was interviewed alongside a National Crime Agency registered intermediary who also assisted the child in giving evidence.

He again repeated what had happened to him.

The boy told his parents that Riley took him to the toilet at school and penetrated him.

The boy told his parents that the teacher hurt him despite not being naughty at school.

Officers arrested Riley at the nursery.

After searching Riley’s home, they also seized a laptop and an iPad.

A full forensic analysis of his iPad revealed an encrypted app that Riley had tried to hide.

Subsequent forensic analysis showed the app contained a vault of more than 181 indecent images and videos of young boys as well as a private browser from which Riley was able to access this material.

An additional 19 indecent images of children were also found on Riley’s laptop.

Riley denied he had a specific sexual interest in children.

Instead, he claimed that he viewed this material because he liked to imagine himself as the abused child in the photos.

Riley was charged with possessing indecent images of children.

He pleaded guilty to this offense.

However, he denied the allegations made by the boy, resulting in the victim and his family having to go through the ordeal of providing evidence during the trial.

A jury took 32 minutes to convict him of assault by penetration.

Detective Constable Clare Thorley from the Public Protection Unit said: “At no point did Riley show remorse for what he had done to this child. His only concern was himself and the result of being caught with the indecent images of children.

“Anyone who downloads photographs of the abuse of children creates a market for this, which leads to other children being abused.”
