Pastor claims he was at the “wrong place at the wrong time” after being accused of forcing his way into hotel room and sexually abusing girlsBy Tanya Clark 5:47 AM February 11, 2018
A pastor, who is on the run from the law, released a video, saying that he will be turning himself into police with his attorney.
This came after police in California released photos of a wanted man, who was identified by people as 40-year-old married pastor Douglas Rivera.
Rivera matched the description of the man who according to Covina police was seen on video driving through a hotel parking lot until he saw a lit room with drapes open in the evening hours.
“The suspect parked his truck facing the hotel room. Two minors were inside of the hotel room. The suspect then exited the vehicle and looked into the hotel window while pretending to be on the phone for over 30 minutes.
“The suspect walked through the hotel and forced his way into the room once the minors opened the door believing it was their chaperone. The suspect assaulted the minors and fled in his truck,” police said in a press release.
Lt. Ric Walczak said that the girls who are between 10 and 12-years-old were part of a tourist group from China.
Pastor Rivera denied the allegations made against him, saying that he was the victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
