A baby was born with a gunshot wound after being involved in a road rage incident, according to police in Tennessee.

The Memphis Police Department said that on Friday, at around 10:45 p.m., three individuals were traveling westbound on I-40 near Hollywood and Warford when an unknown vehicle approached their car from the rear.

The vehicle that approached was described as a 2005 or 2006 dark color Chevy Impala, which was occupied by at least one black male with a medium complexion and he was wearing an orange hoodie.

The victims’ car attempted to pull away from the tailgating vehicle but was not successful.

The driver of the Chevy Impala drove past the victims’ vehicle on the passenger side and fired shots into the car, striking a 19-year-old woman who was pregnant.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

She gave birth to her child who was born with injuries.

The baby is currently in critical condition.

The boyfriend of the 19-year-old victim told police that he saw three men in the Chevy.

He believes that they tried to ram his vehicle off the road, but when they were not successful, they fired numerous shots.

Police found the vehicle with numerous bullet holes.

His girlfriend was hit three times in the hip and one bullet lodged in the baby.
